Epson Introduces New A3 Monochrome MFP LM-M5500
Epson is expanding its Smart Charge-compatible lineup with the launch of the A3 monochrome inkjet multifunction printer, the LM-M5500, available in Japan starting May 29, 2025.
Joining the existing lineup of A3 and A4 color multifunction printers in the series, the new model is designed to meet the needs of users who rely heavily on monochrome printing. With a high-speed output of 55 pages per minute, the LM-M5500 delivers both efficiency and quality. Like other Epson Smart Charge models, it’s built with exceptionally low power consumption, helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and support environmentally responsible business practices.
This new addition is particularly well-suited for sectors such as government offices and financial institutions, where high-volume monochrome printing is essential. Its performance aims to streamline operations while maintaining top-tier image quality.
Key Features of the New Model
Environmentally Conscious Design for a Decarbonized Future
The LM-M5500 uses Epson’s Heat-Free Technology, which eliminates the need for heat in the printing process—significantly lowering energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. With a maximum power draw of just 185W and a TEC value of 0.22 kWh, it meets the standards of the International ENERGY STAR® program. Choosing an inkjet solution like this is a practical step toward sustainability.
Fast Printing Speeds to Keep Up with Business Demands
Offering speeds of 55 pages per minute and a first print time of just 6.3 seconds, the LM-M5500 handles everything from small jobs to large-volume runs with ease. Its automatic document feeder (ADF) supports scanning at 70 images per minute single-sided and 140 images per minute double-sided, making it a reliable asset in fast-paced office environments.
High-Quality Monochrome Printing
Despite being a monochrome printer, the LM-M5500 delivers impressive clarity and gradation, thanks to Epson’s proprietary inkjet technology. It reproduces detailed graphics and shaded images clearly—even fine lines and small text come out crisp. From internal documents to customer-facing paperwork like invoices and contracts, it ensures excellent legibility and professional presentation.
Since its debut in August 2014, Epson Smart Charge has evolved over the past decade to meet a wide range of business needs. With a strong focus on reducing environmental impact and enabling stress-free workflows, Smart Charge continues to gain traction across various industries, including education, healthcare, and corporate offices. Epson remains committed to helping customers solve business challenges through this growing ecosystem of solutions.
