Konica Minolta Reports Lower Office Equipment Sales in 2024
Konica Minolta just announced its consolidated financial results for fiscal year 2024 and forecasts for the following year.
Revenue rose year-on-year by 2% to JPY 1127.9 billion under the positive impacts of foreign exchange rates. Meanwhile, operating profit and profit attributable to owners of the company recorded loss, mainly due to business transfers and other impairments losses.
In Digital Workplace business, total revenue totaled JPY 616.4 billion, remaining relatively stable, and business contribution profit reached JPY 35.8 billion, demonstrating a 9% YoY growth. Under the branch of office solution, which is responsible for the sales and production of office equipment and supplies, sales of hardware device declined in several major markets, including Europe, the U.S., and China. The same decrease was also recorded in non-hardware products across Japan, Europe, the U.S., and China. However, when taking foreign exchange into consideration, the impact of decreased sales was offset, resulting in a revenue of JPY 524.5 billion, slightly up compared to the same period last year. Other factors, including structural reforms and reduced production cost also contributed to the better profitability of the office solution business.
For fiscal year 2025, Konica Minolta expects a decreased revenue as a result of business selection and concentration as well as the negative foreign exchange rate impacts. On the other hands, profit is expected to show recovery given the improved profitability in Digital Workplace, Professional Print and Industry segments.
