Tohita Gives Rare Insight to the Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic

Tohita gives rare insight to the effects of the covid-19 pandemicThe COVID-19 pandemic has brought the world to a standstill for the last two years, and balancing safety with efficiency is a challenge companies face globally. Customers understand that shipping delays are a result of the pandemic, but do not know what is really happening behind the scenes. I interviewed Benson Ye (pictured), Managing Director at Tohita, to gain rare insight into keeping a company running during the last two years.

Tohita has a reputation for reliable products sold at competitive prices, and are the leading copier, toner, drum and spare part manufacturer in China. Customers can rely on them for consistent, high-quality products. Artisan craftsmanship is important to Tohita; with this in mind, production and quality checks are completed to ensure the best performance.

Tohita gives rare insight to the effects of the covid-19 pandemicYe can assure customers that the production process has not been greatly affected due to the timely management of the pandemic. In the workshop, production lines are managed by a supervisor with at least five years of experience, and the average experience of all other production staff is three years. Additionally, all accessories are sourced from well-known suppliers and tested for the best combination of components to guarantee premium quality. A team of technical staff test the products with over 200 A3/A4 machines before they are finally packaged and distributed.

However, shipments are heavily impacted. Ye explains, “Freights are more expensive, and now it can take up to three months to reach the customer when it used to arrive in one month. Tohita cannot control this, so we can only remind customers to replenish their inventory ahead of time.”

Slow and expensive freights have made it difficult to obtain raw materials. Tohita respects the planet and prefers working with recycled cartridges, so 60% of their full product range is made with re-manufactured consumables. “We collect recycled empty cartridges from overseas, so now it takes longer and can only arrange in advance,” Ye said.

Despite these challenges, customers can be sure that products are carefully manufactured and shipped to them as efficiently as possible. With over eleven years of rich industry experience, Tohita is an excellent manufacturer of copier consumables.
