Three Markets Three Realities
What does 2025 hold for the printing aftermarket in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico?
While each market has its own unique dynamics, they share a common thread: stability and opportunity across consumables, parts, and printer segments.
Globally, the industry faces familiar challenges. Two are obvious: declining print volumes and tighter margins. Yet, in the three decades I have been closely connected with the aftermarket, it has consistently proven its resilience, responding with flexibility and innovation.
An analysis of first-quarter imports over the past three years reveals a steady outlook across the region.
- Argentina saw strong performances in 2022 and 2023, which were followed by a dip in early 2024 due to economic uncertainty. Encouragingly, the final four months of 2024 showed a marked recovery, culminating in 2.3% year-over-year growth in Q1 2025.
- Colombia has maintained a stable trajectory, recording a 7.8% increase over the same period.
- Mexico is the region’s aftermarket leader, and it stands out with an impressive 12.4% year-over-year growth in Q1 2025.

A key trend emerging in printer and copier imports is the rising volume of used equipment in Mexico and Colombia, particularly for printing services, rental programs, and managed print service (MPS) contracts.
Brands like Ricoh, Kyocera, Konica Minolta, and Canon remain top choices in this space.
Argentina is also showing signs of positive momentum. The country posted a remarkable 32.2% year-over-year increase in printer imports in Q1 2025, a continuation of the upward trend seen in late 2024. This suggests a broader renewal of the installed printer base. This is likely to boost demand for consumables and parts in the months ahead.

Despite global headwinds, the Latin American aftermarket remains active and resilient. The key to success lies in adapting to local market conditions, identifying growth opportunities, and delivering relevant, evolving solutions.
2025 has begun on a cautiously optimistic note. If this industry has proven anything over time, it’s that it knows how to adapt and thrive. Especially when change demands it reinvent itself.
