It’s easier than ever to print from your mobile phone tablet. Mobile printing apps are already installed on your phone and you can also download printer OEM apps to help you link with your favorite printers in the office or home.

Make sure your phone and your printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. Next, open the app you want to print from and find the print option, which may be under Share, Print or Other Options. Tap Print or the printer icon and select Choose an AirPrint-Enabled Printer.

Despite being so easy, polls conducted at RT ImagingWorld events around the world reveal that most people in the imaging industry have never used their phones to print to a device. Berto picks up on this with his cartoon this month.

Hi Chris. You ask a good question. I am not sure of the current 2019 statistics, but in 2017 we conducted research at each of the summits we ran around the globe and the results revealed that less than 10% of the audiences had tried, or were confident about trying to print remotely from their mobile phones or tablets to a nearby printer. We surveyed more than 1000 professional people who work in the printing devices and consumables industry. So you can assume the general public may be even less inclined to do it.

At our conferences, we had a competition to get people to search for the printer at the front of the room on their devices and to print any document to it from their devices. It was a lot of fun and all the people who came up front to receive a prize admitted they always thought that printing from a mobile device might be too difficult.
