Hara Trading Receives Practical Achievement Award
Hara Trading Co., Ltd., a Yokohama-based trading company engaged in environmental and consumer goods businesses, has been honored with the Practical Achievement Award in the Corporate Category at the 32nd Yokohama Environmental Action Awards. The ceremony, hosted by the City of Yokohama, was held on November 6, 2025.

The company was recognized for more than three decades of work supporting the production and adoption of reuse toner cartridges. Hara Trading supplies key components used in remanufactured cartridges—products that repurpose parts of used toner cartridges and help reduce plastic consumption, waste generation, and CO₂ emissions. Beyond its core business, the company has also taken an active role in promoting environmental awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), municipalities, schools, and other organizations.
According to the announcement, many SMEs face challenges in dedicating resources to environmental communication. Hara Trading has addressed this through lectures, interviews, and other outreach, encouraging organizations to begin sustainability efforts with achievable steps. The company has also created educational materials and operated a dedicated information site on reuse toner cartridges to stimulate broader interest in waste reduction.
Hara Trading’s efforts include promoting user adoption of reuse toner cartridges, advocating approachable decarbonization practices, and transitioning all company facilities—including its logistics center—to 100% renewable electricity since 2021. These initiatives, combined with internal reforms such as the establishment of a corporate purpose centered on delivering environmentally responsible value, contributed to the company’s selection for the award.

The Yokohama Environmental Action Award highlights organizations and individuals contributing to regional environmental improvement. Hara Trading stated that it will continue working to broaden recognition of the environmental value of reuse toner cartridges and to lower barriers for companies and individuals seeking to engage in sustainability initiatives.
Founded in Yokohama and marking its 70th anniversary, Hara Trading operates environmental businesses related to reuse toner cartridges alongside its textile and baby and kids’ product divisions.
