Judge to Attract Hundreds with Industry Secrets
An audience of 500 is expected to tune into Tricia Judge’s “tell-all revelations” about the remanufacturing and new-build sectors of the global printer cartridge aftermarket.
The webinar on February 24, 2021, at 1 pm Central Standard Time in the United States is a joint venture between the Clover Imaging Group and Tricia Judge (pictured). The information is not only targetted at the imaging supplies industry but also at distributors and end-users as well.
“The imaging supplies arena is a tangled web, especially if you are buying cartridges from the web,” Judge said. “I hope to explain the many dangers of the cartridge clones, as differentiated from new OEM, vetted new-builds and remanufactured cartridges. Plus I will reveal the traps the OEMs are setting these days.”
Judge has won critical acclaim for her writing and industry advocacy and is the executive director of the International Imaging Technology Council. She was the executive editor of Recharger magazine, a lawyer for 30 years and has assisted in the preparation of six friend-of-the-court briefs for cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. She is also the senior consulting editor for RT Media, the publishers of RT ImagingWorld magazine and this website.
Judge told RT Media she will break down the aftermarket supplies landscape and will be revealing the truth about “clones,” the copycat cartridge supplies that have plagued the industry for almost a decade.
Judge has been visiting China for decades. She travelled to Guiyu in 2004 and exposed the environmental damage being caused by empty cartridges being dumped ready for sorting and dismantling. She remembers all too well the sights, sounds and smells she encountered from the solid waste problem she saw:
The saddest part of the trip was the children. I watched as they and their pets, the innocents, played among the piles of ravaged and burned cartridges.
The air was so thick from the burning styrene that my eyes and throat burned soon after arrival. One in four children had respiratory diseases caused by the omnipresent burn sites.
Entire families were gathered around the piles of cartridges, stripping them of their metals. They shooed us away. Although they must have hated the work, they needed it. They protected it.
Government officials likewise tried to get us to leave, but there was no hiding it. Street after street, house after house, the electronic waste spilled out. Fences were made of plastic computer siding.
It took me 48 hours to feel better again, and I couldn’t get the smell out of my clothes and hair for some time.
Judge has also attended the RemaxWorld Expo in Zhuhai China for the past five years. She has found some companies exhibiting the STMC logo illegally—a typical strategy to try and influence buyers. “Like everything else in business, you have to do your due diligence when it comes to buying products,” she said. “My seminar will offer the tips and traps you need to know to purchase supplies confidently.
