ETRIA Forms New Subsidiary to Centralize Japanese Production
ETRIA Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Ricoh Company and Toshiba Tec Corporation, announced recently that it will establish a new domestic production company through an absorption-type company split with its subsidiary, Yamanashi Electronics Co., Ltd. (YEC).

The agreement, signed on August 26 and effective February 1, 2026, will transfer ETRIA’s production operations at its Numazu, Gotemba, and Tohoku sites to the new entity. The company, which will be fully owned by ETRIA, is expected to employ approximately 1,000 staff and operate with a capital of 410 million yen.
The new company will focus on the production and refurbishment of multifunction printers, printers, peripheral devices, and related consumables. ETRIA says the move aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, consolidate expertise, and support innovation in Japan’s printing industry.
ETRIA emphasized that the formation of the new company is part of a broader strategy to maintain global competitiveness, enhance production efficiency, and cultivate professional talent. The new company’s name and leadership team are yet to be announced.
