Decline Slowed down in Q2

Driven by a strong demand in color laser (21 ppm+) and mono laser (21-30 ppm) segments, the Worldwide Hardcopy Peripherals (HCP) market has slowed the rate of decline in the second quarter (Q2) of 2016.

According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), the overall HCP market reached 23.1 million in units in Q2, declining 3.8% year-over-year. IDC also reported an 18% growth in color laser (21 ppm+) demand, and an 8.9% growth in the mono laser (21-30 ppm) segment.

Other highlights in this quarter include:

  • Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) saw a 6.6% year-over-year growth in shipments of approximately 8 million units, driven by strong performances in China, Indonesia, Philippines, and Vietnam.
  • Epson delivered a growth of 10.4%, with shipments up 13.3% year-over-year in the business inkjet segment of the Western European market.
  • Canon also grew 1.4% year-over-year in the worldwide market with shipments totaling 4.8 million in Q2 16.
