Customs Rejects Two Companies’ Shipments

The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (Customs) has denied the entry of toner cartridges and components—organised by two California-based companies: Baiksan OPC and West Coast E-waste—into the United States.

Customs has informed the US International Trade Commission (USITC), claiming the products infringe an ITC General Exclusion Order (GEO) related to a 337-TA-829 investigation.

According to court documents seen by RT Media, the USITC issued a seizure and forfeiture order, based on the documents provided by Customs, against the two companies on October 20. According to the files, the products violate the GEO in 337-TA-829 investigation.

On August 13, 2013, the ITC issued a public version of its opinion on Issue No. 337-TA-829 titled, Certain Toner Cartridges and Components Thereof. At issue were Canon’s two patents covering twisted prism shaped drum gear couplings.
