Five-year Triangle Gear Case Dismissed

Baiksan OPC, a global parts and components supplier for laser printers, inkjet printers, copiers, fax machines and multifunction devices, announced the triangle gear case filed by Canon has been agreed on dismissal by the two parties on April 14, 2015.

Recycling Times once reported that the case, titled with Number GuJe 4-1-2010-6, filed by Canon on May 19, 2010, accused Baiksan of exporting and/or manufacturing drums that infringed claims 25 and 26 of Korean Patent No. 258,609. Baiksan then filed a patent invalidation claim, alleging that Canon’s patent should be invalid for lack of novelty.

On June 7, 2013, the district court of Seoul Central District held that Canon’s patents were infringed and ordered Baiksan OPC must stop manufacturing and selling cartridges and further destroy infringing finished or half finished products. Further, the court awarded Canon about US$14 million as damage compensation, as revealed bykoreaniplaw.blogspot.com.

In the release, Baiksan commits providing high quality and stable products under the guidance of their own patented technology to customers.
