Canon Hong Kong Launches 2nd Inter-School Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition

Canon Hong Kong has launched its second Inter-School Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition for raising students’ environmental awareness. Taking part in this competition are 138 institutions, including 62 primary and 76 secondary schools. They have collected 10,000 used ink cartridges between last November and April of this year.

The event has recycled more than 1.3 metric tonnes of plastics and helped cut 2.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Canon launched the recycling campaign in 2009 and has placed 180 recycling boxes in Hong Kong for cartridge collection.

Along with the recycling campaign, a comic competition took place. Alice Mak Ka-bik, Judge of Environmental Protection Comic Design Contest, commented, “While judging, I read many stories behind the works and know how students echo the ink cartridge recycling theme from different perspectives.”
