Toner Ink News July 2020 Print Volume ForecastsThis will probably not come as a surprise that IDC has forecast that COVID-19 will cause a significant decline in home and office printing for 2020. It forecasts that print volume will decline by 13.7% from 3.2 trillion pages (2019) to 2.8 trillion pages in 2020.

Sun Chemical has completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Sensient Imaging Technologies, a move that will help expand Sun’s inkjet offerings in the textile and other digital ink areas. Sun is owned by Japan’s DIC Corporation.

Xeikon and Flint Group have introduced IDERA as a new digital print solution for corrugated packaging. The new press will be able to print coated or uncoated sheets up to 1.6 m wide and 2.8 m long at up to 150 m/min using food-safe water-based inks.

Agfa will establish a new water-based inkjet facility at its Mortsel, Belgium facility. The article mentioned that one target will be printed décor paper for laminate floors and furniture. Another target will be inks for packaging and corrugated carton printing. Agfa develops its own wide format UV inkjet printers plus the UV inks for their own as well as other OEM printers.

Canon has introduced an entry-level large-format multifunction printer in the imagePROGRAF TA- 30 MFP L36ei. The output is up to 36” wide at up to 2400×1200 equivalent dpi or up to 113 24”x36” posters/hour. LUCIA TD pigment ink standard. About $1980.

Canon has also announced the ProStream 1800 Continuous-feed inkjet printer. Speed up to 436 ft/min and ability to print up to 22” wide and 60” length. Air flotation drying system. 1200 dpi print heads and polymer pigment inks.

Konica Minolta has announced the AccurioJet KM-1e digital B2+ size UV inkjet press. The company claims that the press provides “infinite business expansion possibilities” and versatility with substrates and applications.

Kyocera Document Solutions America has introduced the P4060dn monochrome A4 laser printer. Speeds up to 60 ppm with a 3.8-second first copy. Low cost/copy based on long life components.

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America has introduced the DX-B351PL and DX-B352P compact monochrome printers. Up to 35 ppm with auto duplex. All-in-one toner/drum cartridges. Claimed to be one of the lowest cost per page.

Epson has announced the SureColor SC-F10000 dye-sublimation textile printer, which at 76” capability is its largest to date. Using new PrecisionCore Micro TFP printheads it can output up to 255 m2/hr. Ink is available in 3 and 10-liter boxes.
