USITC Issues Yet Another Seizure and Forfeiture Order

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) who have yet again issued a seizure and forfeiture order. This time the orders stipulate certain ink cartridges and components imported by California-based company, HT Tech Inc, violate general exclusion order (GEO) section 337of the Tariff Act of 1930.

According to the documents provided to RT Media, US Customs informed the USITC that it had denied the attempts of the above-mentioned company to import certain ink cartridges and components into U.S. on account of the aforesaid GEO. Customs also gave written notice to the company say that its decision to seize and forfeit the said ink cartridges and components.

Subsequently, the USITC issued the seizure and forfeiture orders based upon the documents provided by U. S. Customs.

In Feb, 2011, Epson Portland, Epson America, and Seiko Epson Corporation of Japan jointly filed a lawsuit in terms of the patent-infringement of certain ink cartridges and components under Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930, and the USITC concluded the investigation with the issuing of a GEO in Apr., 2012.
