Taiwan and Thailand Join WTO Tech Tariff Agreement
The World Trade Organization’s (WTO) first tariff-eliminating deal received two new parties, reported Bangkok post. According to the World Trade body, Taiwan and Thailand have confirmed that they are to join the agreement.
Last week, an agreement was made to abolish tariffs on 201 information technology products, including advanced computer chips, GPS devices, printer cartridges and video-game consoles.
The WTO also announced that the 201 products included in the deal are estimated to be worth over US$1.3 trillion.
Taiwan and Thailand were among the negotiations which helped bring about the settlement of the final agreement on tech tariffs.
