Surprise Cartridge Seizure Order Issued

US Border authorities have informed the US International Trade Commission (USITC) that certain toner cartridges were denied entry into the United States.

According to three separate Seizure and Forfeiture orders provided to RT Media, two of companies, namely ACM Technologies, Inc. and Printer Cartridge Recycle, are involved in the business of printer cartridges.

The third company, Actionable Intelligence, however, is a tactical market research and custom consulting company for the printer and supplies industry based near Boston. Massachusetts. Which seems very puzzling to the editors of RT Media. They are not usually involved in the shipping and trade of printer cartridges. Surely an error here?

All three organisations have been informed separately that importing the said cartridges violates the General Exclusion Order (GEO) related to the 337-TA-829 investigation.

On January 23, 2012, Canon U.S.A., Inc., Canon Virginia, Inc. and Canon, Inc. in Tokyo filed a lawsuit, claiming 35 companies infringed its two U.S. patent Nos.: 5,903,803 and 6,128,454. USITC instituted this investigation (337-TA-829) on February 29, 2012 and issued a GEO accordingly on June 28, 2013.
