Steve Weedon Joins Print-Rite

Steve Weedon (pictured) has moved to Zhuhai, China to head up strategic development with Utec, a key company owned by Print-Rite.

Print-Rite was the first Aftermarket company to start up in China 37 years ago and dominated the industry for decades.

“I’m happy to announce, effective January 1, 2018,  I have joined Print-Rite Group, responsible for directing a new global approach in the market,” Weedon says.

“I don’t know anyone better that is in touch with the global marketplace,” says Founding Chairman, Arnald Ho. “Steve is in touch with what is happening in Europe and USA as well as key developing markets. He knows where the industry is headed and is an important part of our strategy to lead this industry into the future.”

According to Weedon, Print-Rite is the most vertically integrated organization in the entire industry. “Chip development started in 2002, the ICMI toner plant was acquired in 2003 and the AEG OPC plant was acquired in 2010.” The company is involved in ink production, the plastic injection moulding of 4,000 line items including blades, seals, toner kits, copier toner bottles, waste toner bottles, ceramic toner, bio toner and textile inks. The company has also pioneered 3d printing.

“It is time for a fresh approach,” Weedon says.  “It is time to think differently. Many in the imaging industry want change. It is now time to talk and see what our new approach can do for you.”

Weedon was the Global CEO of Cartridge World from August 2015 and along with Samsung began the pioneering task of developing a mobile printing solution for the 96 million mobile workers around the world. Before that, he was CEO of Static Control based in Sanford, North Carolina having served the company in Europe as well, from September 1993 through to January 2012.

In 1992, Weedon founded and established The Recycler Magazine in the UK—a trade publication serving the emerging laser and inkjet cartridge remanufacturing industry in Europe.

Congratulations Steve. With your strong support of remanufacturing during your time at ‘Recycler’ Static Control and Cartridge World – will you encourage Print Rite to offer internal key components for their products to cartridge remanufacturers and continue to support the circular economy and life extension?
