Sensient Delivers Strong Performance in Q2

Sensient Technologies Corporation had a strong quarter with solid profit growth in each of its operating segments.

The company, based in Wisconsin USA, employs advanced technologies to develop specialty inks and colors, among other products, which it manufactures and markets globally.

According to Sensient, revenue increased 4.3% to $360.8 million in the second quarter of 2016 (Q2 2016) compared to the same period last year. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations fell to 55 cents year-over-year. Operating income decreased from $45.1 million to $43.7 million in Q2.

Other highlights about the results include:

• Cash provided by operating activities was $54.7 million in the quarter and $100.8 million in the first six months of the year.
• For the six months ended June 30, 2016, diluted earnings per share from continuing operations fell to $1.25; while revenue increased approximately 2% to $703.3 million.
• Operating income was $91.2 million in the first half of 2016, effectively flat with the $91.5 million reported in the comparable period last year.
