Seizure and Forfeiture Order against Three Companies

The U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (the Customs) informed the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) that they have denied the entry of the inkjet ink cartridges which violated a general exclusion order (GEO) and the related products of three California-based companies.

According to the documents provided by the Customs, the USITC released a seizure and forfeiture order against Smart A Inc., Smart and Easy Group and Electric Zone Inc., confirming that a violation to 337-TA-723 GEO. It is noted that if the companies attempt to import inkjet ink cartridges with printheads and related components into the U.S., seizures should be enforced by the Customs.

Only four months ago, two companies were hit by a seizure and forfeiture order for violating 337-TA-723 GEO. HP filed a complaint to the USITC On May 25, 2010 and request a 337 investigation. This investigation was instituted by the USITC and completed on October 24, 2011 with a GEO issuance.
