Russia Bans Recovered Paper Exports for Four Months

The government of the Russian Federation has imposed a temporary ban on paper exports, valid until 18 April 2016.

The government of the Russian Federation imposed a temporary ban on exporting recovered paper in December 2015 and the ban will be valid until 18 April 2016.

The country’s customs service claimed thatthe ban is based on a decree issued by the Russian Government on 12 December 2015.

According to sources, the export ban is a government concession to Russian paper recyclers who were complaining about a lack of raw material. In addition, restricting exports had become necessary because of the rapid growth in demand from the domestic paper industry. The ban also served to stabilise prices, they said.
