Production Printer Market Continues Growing in 2Q
The global production printer market has seen a continuous growth in the second quarter of 2016, so says IDC.
Shipments of the production printers have increased 10%, while the unit shipment value has upped 3.4% totaling US$1.1 billion.
In addition, high-speed inkjet production devices have increased 66% year-over-year in system shipments, in which Canon’s Océ VarioPrint i300 and Ricoh’s Pro VC60000 have high sales records.
The report shows the color laser segment in 2Q has witnessed growth as well. The inkjet takes part of the “big iron” laser share while laser vendors were extending the variety of downstream products.
Konica Minolta tops the list for vendors of printers with a 30.4% year-over-year growth in shipments.
Amy Machado, a research manager of IDC, said, “Successful IT suppliers can offer both inkjet and laser technologies at a variety of prices to the end-user while expanding into new markets.”
