Printers Send Spoof E-mails

Fuji Xerox says fraudulent emails might have inadvertently been sent out from the company’s multifunction printers.

The company has advised the email subject and the names of attached files state:

Subject: Scanned from a Xerox Multifunction Printer (or similar);

Name of attached files: scanned {random numbers}. zip (or similar).

Customers have been urged not to open or execute any attached files. They have also been advised to change the default subject of emails sent through the “Scan to E-mail” function on MFPs to easily detect such fraudulent emails.
