New Solution to Distinguish OEM Firmware UpgradesAs part of its efforts to confront OEM firmware upgrades, one leading Aftermarket company has unveiled a solution for compatible chips to be used that will identify whether a printer has been upgraded or not.

Print-Rite says as the OEMs upgrade their printer upgrades more frequently, it is important for users of compatible chips to make decisions and use components that will avoid risks.

In 2016, Brother released the Brother inkjet printers (Brother II), and upgraded it so that most Aftermarket chips used on this series cannot be recognized.

Print-Rite’s new solution helps users distinguish as follows:

Additionally, the company claims its Aftermarket chips for use in Brother-II printers are not affected by the upgrade and can still be identified on the printers after testing. Print-Rite’s compatible chips for use in Brother II printers include LC203/213/223/233/261/201/211/221/231/261/675/679.
