HP to Create 3D Printing Business Group After Split
HP has appointed Steve Nigro, vice-president of imaging and printing, to head a new 3D printing group upon completion of its split plan scheduled for November 1.
Dion Weisler, the soon-to-be HP Inc. CEO, was quoted in an internal memo saying: “When we announced our plans to separate, we knew that 3D printing would be a key area of innovation and growth for HP Inc. Our company is positioned perfectly to take advantage of our sophisticated intellectual property and know-how to transform industries and power the next industrial revolution.” He further added, “As our first 3D printing product nears commercial availability, I’m creating a new 3D Printing business group and center of excellence. With that in mind, I have asked Stephen Nigro to turn his entire focus to 3D Printing, continuing to report to me.”
HP has been working on 3D technology over many years, and plans to release its first 3D printer-the Multi Jet Fusion in 2016.
