HP to Cut More Jobs Before Split

With two months to go, HP is now making further redundancies before it splits.

CFO Cathie Lesjak confirmed that 2,750 staff globally had been added to the previous target of 55,000 people, mostly from Enterprise Services. HP is expecting voluntary leave rather than compulsory redundancies. However, if the number of volunteers is not sufficient, “then compulsory redundancies will happen”. Lesjak added, “Those leaving the company through redundancy will do so by 30 October just before the HP separation.”

According to another HP spokeswoman, “These proposed changes are part of a company-wide strategy announced in 2012 to give HP the needed workforce to be a more nimble customer and partner-centric company”.
