Driven by expanding customer contracts in high-margin industrial solutions, robust semiconductor demand, and favorable foreign exchange rates, Epson delivered double-digit top-line expansion alongside a dramatic surge in net profitability. Consolidated revenue for the quarter grew 14.4% year-on-year to ¥367.24 billion (US$2.31 billion), while business profit reached ¥22.12 billion (US$138.93 million), up 12.0% year-on-year.

Performance across these newly defined divisions showed strong momentum in industrial and high-tech sectors:

The Precision Innovation segment achieved exceptional growth, generating ¥49.79 billion (US$312.71 million) in revenue, up 23.5% year-on-year, while segment profit surged 62.1% to ¥15.53 billion (US$97.54 million), propelled by expanding printhead customer contracts, strong sales of quartz crystal devices, and recovering semiconductor demand.

The Industrial & Robotics segment also delivered robust growth, posting revenue of ¥81.99 billion (US$514.95 million), up 17.9%, and segment profit of ¥5.47 billion (US$34.35 million), up 44.1%. This expansion was driven by strong sales of finished commercial and industrial printers, positive foreign exchange tailwinds, and captured robotics demand across Asia, particularly in China.

Conversely, consumer-oriented printing and lifestyle divisions experienced short-term profit margin compression despite top-line gains. The Office & Home Printing segment recorded revenue of ¥167.03 billion (US$1.05 billion), up 12.3% year-on-year, supported by steady demand for high-capacity ink tank printers and ink consumables. However, segment profit fell 21.7% to ¥11.45 billion (US$71.91 million) as revenue gains were more than offset by higher operating costs stemming from rising crude oil prices.

Supported by favorable currency assumptions and anticipated non-operating gains, Epson has revised its full-year guidance upward for the fiscal year 2027. Profitability expectations were notably boosted by ongoing refund claims for U.S. tariffs previously imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, which were declared invalid by the U.S. Supreme Court.
