Demand for Quality Toners in New Markets Drives Expanded Production

Despite tough times with a flattening global market demand for toner, one manufacturer is enjoying so much success it will have to install another production line.

Indian Toners & Developers Ltd (ITDL) has enjoyed strong sales since 1992 for its premium toner products domestically in India, but also in offshore Asian, Middle-Eastern, and East European markets. Now, the company—that manufactures compatible toner for laser printers, analogue copiers, new age digital machines, MFP’s, wide format printers and copiers—is looking to expand into the Americas with its higher quality and competitive priced products.

“While many toner companies are either cutting their production or shutting down, we are looking to begin our next expansion,” reports Akshat Jain, President of ITDL (photo seated right, with his father, Sushil who is the founding chairman and managing director of the company). “We are currently planning and preparing to increase our capacity another 600 tons per year.”

The current production capacity of this ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified company is 3,000 metric tons per year, but according to Jain, his company will increase its capacity by a further 20% to 3,600 tons per year in February 2017. This follows an expansion of 600 tons in 2015.

“Our products have been qualified by many companies, but up until now, logistics and transit times have held us back,” Jain advises, “We have considered opening an addition distribution facility, possibly in America.  There are still many countries using lots of toner, and not every market is declining.  Setting up a facility will allow us to provide quick and quality service to these markets.”

“We hope to be able to contribute to the growth of companies in countries that are still experiencing growth in this industry.”

Indian Toners & Developers will launch into the Americas market by exhibiting at the RT Imaging Expo in Cancun, Mexico on June 2 and 3.  Jain expects this exposure will help Americans to become aware of a real alternative to Chinese manufacturers that have dominated the market in recent years.  They also plan to tour through South America to make their name and quality products known in this continent.
