Consumables Sales Plummet

Sales of office equipment and consumables in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has dropped dramatically during the third quarter of 2016.

According to a report from GfK TEMAX, the entire technical consumer goods (TCG) market has suffered a year-on-year 24.2% decrease, with just SR168 million (US$44.7 million) in sales.

The TCG market includes consumer electronics, telecommunications, photography and domestic appliances as well as office equipment and consumables.

Within the Office Equipment and Consumables (OE) segment, both inkjet and laser experienced double-digit declines. Inkjet multifunctional devices (MFDs) proved to be the most resilient and a key volume driver. The expanding range of CISS (Continuous Ink System) devices helped this category.

However, both the inkjet cartridges, and laser toners segments recorded large falls in Q3 2016.
