Canon Takes Patent Infringement Action in Europe

On July 14, 2014, Canon announced it has filed against two companies in the High Court of Justice of England and Wales.

The OEM claimed European Cartridge Warehouse Limited and Printer Supplies Technology Limited have infringed its “European Patent (UK) number 2,087,407 by, inter alia (among other things), the importation and sale of certain toner cartridges for use in various models of Hewlett-Packard laser beam printers”. Thus, it is seeking various remedies including an injunction and damages.

Moreover, the firm stated it respects the intellectual property rights of other companies and individuals and expects others to do the same. Also, it remains committed to taking legal action against anyone who does not respect its intellectual property rights.
