$1M Saved by Changing Default Printer Settings
This week, Pennsylvania’s Governor’s Innovation Office reported that it helped saved more than $1M paper and toner costs for the government.
The office changed default settings on Department of Public Welfare printers. Settings were changed on 2,300 printers to print double-sided pages, and 200 to print in black and white. This change contributes to a $1.1 million in paper and toner cost saves in the Department of Public Welfare.
Furthermore, millions more savings were reported after combining programs or services that were considered duplicative. In 2012, the Governor’s Innovation Office secured $84 million in savings from taxpayers.
