Industry Future Discussed on Day 2 of RemaxWorld Summit 2025
On October 17, 2025, the second day of the RemaxWorld Summit 2025 continued at Hall 6 of the Zhuhai International Exhibition Center. The agenda delved into key industry challenges, focusing on global supply chain pressures, the impact of AI technology, and the evolving landscape of OEMs. The discussions attracted numerous international experts, business leaders, and industry professionals.

Industry veteran Graham Galliford provided an in-depth analysis of how U.S. trade policies and tariffs are reshaping markets for toner, chips, and components. While tariffs are intended to bring manufacturing back to the U.S., Galliford pointed out that Asia remains the central hub for global industrial production, thanks to its structural advantages such as low labor costs, integrated supply chains, and specialized infrastructure. Despite OEMs diversifying production to regions like Vietnam and Mexico, high tariffs—such as 35% or 50% on key components like chips—have put significant profit pressure on the general consumables market. Therefore, businesses must actively invest in quality, technology, market diversification, and automation to reduce risks, stay competitive, and seize emerging global growth opportunities outside the U.S.

Deborah Hawkins, Principal Analyst and Group Director of the Workplace Team at Keypoint Intelligence, offered a global perspective on how AI is driving a fundamental transformation in the printing industry—from products to services. She highlighted the rapid growth of AI applications and the increasing integration of software and hardware workflows. This convergence is crucial for businesses to maintain market competitiveness and solidify their position.

The highlight of the morning was a roundtable discussion titled “AI, Supply Chain & OEMs: Shaping the Next Chapter of Printing.” Hosted by David Gibbons, the discussion featured notable experts including Deborah Hawkins, Graham Galliford, Stuart Lacey, Gustavo Molinatti, and Swapan Roy. The panel tackled several cutting-edge topics: the varying impact of AI across regions and its role in reshaping the industry value chain from manufacturing to end-user services. On sustainability, they explored the real extent of remanufacturing adoption—whether it’s government incentives or consumer considerations of price and quality that ultimately drive market choices. The discussion also addressed the classic question: “Are there too many OEMs and consumables manufacturers?” Participants analyzed trends in the A3 and A4 market integration and identified regions with untapped growth potential. Strategies employed by both OEMs and consumables companies to capture market share became a focal point.

The afternoon sessions continued with engaging presentations. Pan Qi, Director of South China Expansion at Amazon Global Selling, provided an in-depth analysis of Amazon’s end-to-end cross-border solutions, explaining how businesses can leverage Amazon’s global resources and innovative tools to efficiently expand into international markets and achieve global brand growth.

Juan Carlos Bonell, CEO of Static Control, offered a comprehensive outlook on the challenges and opportunities facing the printing consumables market. He noted that disruptions in global supply chains—especially shortages of toner and resin—have forced businesses to re-engineer their products. Bonell emphasized the importance of strategic adaptability to these challenges, urging companies to diversify their supply chains, invest in innovation, and stay agile in response to market dynamics to remain competitive in the evolving printing consumables sector.

Koichi Yoshizuka, Founder and CEO of QRIE Ltd. from Japan, delved into the ongoing consolidation and restructuring of the global OEM landscape. He predicted that future competition would shift beyond the traditional “OEM vs. non-OEM” dichotomy, transitioning toward a new paradigm driven by collaboration, licensing, and sustainable innovation. The industry, he said, would seek a more refined balance between quality, cost, and environmental responsibility in shaping the future of printing consumables.

Next, Sun Jinliang, Sales Director of Beijing UNIHANNTO Technology Co., Ltd., shared a detailed analysis of the prospects for the Chinese laser printer market. He forecasted that Chinese-branded laser printers would capture over 50% of the market share, with domestic substitution accelerating from 2025 to 2027. Eight key industries were identified as prime opportunities for growth. Foreign brands currently dominate the 35PPM+ printer market, monopolizing mid- to high-speed models. In the next two to three years, Unisplendour plans to focus on advancing domestic alternatives. Sun also provided insights into the research, development, and production process of Unisplendour’s full line of printers, highlighting their product advantages.

The final session featured She Shaohua, Founder and CEO of Guangzhou X-Dream Technology Co., Ltd., who discussed the future trends of printers, revealing a new potential for the industry: from large to compact, from bulky to portable, from fixed to mobile, and from functional to fun. He explored various aspects such as structure, hardware, software, and security, offering a vision of what a market-leading portable printer should look like, and closed the day with a futuristic outlook.
The summit successfully created a high-level, international dialogue platform that brought together global expertise, providing valuable intellectual momentum for the imaging and printing industry to navigate the changes ahead and build consensus on its future direction.
