Xerox to Cut 48 Jobs

Following rounds of job cutting in different operation sites due to its restructuring plan, Xerox announced another wave of downsizing. This time in Webster, New York.

According to Democrat & Chronicle, Xerox will cut 48 jobs as well as close its supplies distribution center in Webster in answering to its restructuring plan announced late last year. Most of the jobs in Webster are said to be union jobs, including salaried positons in six areas. The company’s spokesman Bill McKee revealed that Xerox looks to partner with a third-party provider to manage those operations. Those who have been let go will remain their work in Webster operation until Aug. 29.

The company employs around 6,400 people in the nearby Rochester area. According to U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-New York), Xerox will retain its document business in Rochester.
