Surging Printer Market in Vietnam

According to IDC, the Vietnam printer market grows 8% in the third quarter, 2012, showing even stronger momentum in 2013.

The market in 4Q 2012 is expected to grow 26%, reaching a total shipment of 155,000 units. IDC also predicts an annual growth rate of 9.18% in 2013.

Market trend and shipment factor are the main reasons for the rapid growth. People in the country are using more single function and other low-end printers, while the government is also investing more with various IT bundling programs. On the other hand, the delayed printer shipment in some quarter has now arrived to the market.

“Printers and MFPs in 3Q 2012 exhibited better growth rate in the market. The rising demand and subsequent completion of projects from the public sector, particularly the government, and the banking sector greatly contributed to the growth during the quarter. Large impact promotions and continuous launch of new models also boosted the market,” says Tu Dang, IDC market analyst for Imaging, Printing and Document Solutions.

Although Inkjet reportedly has increased 72% in the first nine months of 2012 compared with the same time last year, it is expected to fall 12% in 2013. This is mainly because Vietnam market’s favor in laser, which is consider a better cost-saving solution.
