Staples’s Interim CEO Turns Permanent

Shira Goodman has been named the President, CEO, and member of the Board of Directors of the American office supply giant, Staples, according to Business Wire.

The new President joined Staples in 1992, and served as the CEO pro tem in May 2016. Before accepting the position, Ms. Goodman played a variety of important roles such as President of North American Operations and Commercial, Executive Vice President of Global Growth, Executive Vice President of Human Resources, and more.

“The Board has approved Shira’s appointment,” explained Robert Sulentic, Independent Lead Director. “This decision was not only based on her long tenure and deep understanding of our industry, but also on the leadership qualities she has demonstrated while serving as interim Chief Executive Officer.”
