Staples Closes A Store in Its Homeground

Staples has closed a store within the United States, a region it alleged to focus on after shutting many of its businesses outside North America this year.

The office supplies giant has confirmed that it is closing a store in Galesburg, Illinois. The retailer closes its store not long after it has sold the store building off North Henderson Street in Galesburg.

According to thelaseronline.com, a Staples spokeswoman has confirmed to the local radio that the Galesburg store will be closing on July 8th.

The retailer has closed a number of stores within the last year, in part due to increasing popularity of online shopping. Ironically, in a statement addressing its loyal customers in the area, Staples urges the local shoppers to go online for its products instead.

It is not known yet how many employees are being impacted by the closure.
