Sharp Becomes First MFP Provider Working with Alexa for Business to Enhance Technology in the Workplace

Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), announced the company is the first multifunction printer (MFP) provider working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance technology in the workplace through Alexa for Business.

Alexa for Business is a new service which enables businesses and organizations to bring Amazon Alexa into the workplace to assist productivity and organization on both personal and shared Amazon Echo devices. In the workplace, shared devices connected to Alexa can be placed in common areas for anyone to use, and employees can use the application on their personal devices to connect to work and home.

As the first and only MFP provider working with Alexa , Sharp is providing key capabilities to customers by working with the service designed specifically for business. Integrating with Alexa will allow Sharp’s customers to interact using simple, verbal commands with their Sharp Digital MFPs and the rest of the Sharp B2B portfolio, including AQUOS BOARD interactive display systems. This should improve overall usability while minimizing the necessity for product-specific training.

“We are excited to be the first MFP provider working with Alexa for Business,” Sharp America software product management associate vice president Vince Jannelli (pictured) said.

“This feature is an important step in bringing Sharp’s vision for an open, smart workplace to life, providing greater value to our business customers,” he said
