RemaxWorld Expo Celebrates 10 Years

RemaxWorld Expo 2016 will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in October. Birthed as RemaxAsia in 2006 as a regional event, it has been transformed into RemaxWorld, the world’s largest print consumables expo with participants from more than 80 countries. While online sales have captured many markets, the sincerity of face-to-face communication, hands-on experience with real products and the friendliness of meeting “old friends” at the exhibition.

Decade for print consumables industry

On October 13 to 15, RemaxWorld Expo 2016 will celebrate its 10-year anniversary. The first RemaxAsia Pacific was successfully held by CCPIT Zhuhai and Recycling Times Media Corporation (RT Media) in Zhuhai in early 2007. It took just three years to become the world’s largest print consumable exhibition—a title it has held every year since. The number of exhibitors and visitors has quadrupled.

During the opening ceremony of RemaxAsia Expo 2010, Zhuhai was awarded the “the world capital of print consumables” by CCIA, which has positioned Zhuhai—with hundreds of cartridge manufacturers and remanufacturers—as being the leading region globally for the production of print consumables. According to 2015 statistics, Zhuhai is home to 680 print consumable companies, providing 78.6% of the ribbons, 68.4% of the inkjet cartridges, and 40.1% of the toner cartridges used by the Aftermarket across the world. The reputation of “the world capital of print consumables” Zhuhai also has been widely spread worldwide.

Over the past decade, the RemaxWorld Expo has seen many threats, opportunities and changes. With the advent of mobile devices, many believed the “golden age” of printing had come and gone. And for some, it was true.

Since 2006, disputes over patent infringements, has forced the Aftermarket to give much greater respect to the OEMs. Those battles continue in various places in the Americas as well as Europe. As the 30 year-old industry matured, and companies have grown and prospered—with some going public—a rash of mergers and acquisitions have taken place since 2013. Announcements were made every month during 2015. Chinese Aftermarket imaging companies began to dominate the global market and heralded in a golden age of acquisitions. Then in April 2016, Apex successfully made a bid to acquire Lexmark International. It was a reverse-acquisition tactic that saw a 15-year-old, Aftermarket company take control of a former, aggressive competitor, an OEM multiple times its own size. It caught everyone unaware.

The advent of smartphones and tablets however, has now opened a whole new opportunity with the mobile printing revolution. With 65 million mobile workers in the US alone, together with improvements in technology, there are huge opportunities for the OEMs and the Aftermarket alike, as 3 trillion pages continue to be printed every year globally.

Those wanting to be updated on the hot issues and trends in the next ten years, should attend the RemaxWorld Summit—held the day before the RemaxWorld Expo on October 12.

Experience is the access to business

Experience is the purpose of offline exhibitions, offering suppliers and buyers alike with a platform to communicate face to face. This year, in order to better serve suppliers and buyers, a new special exhibition zone for copier consumables, parts, devices and supplies will be launched at the RemaxWorld Expo. At the same time, the iPrint 3D Expo will be held in the same venue, providing insights into the emerging 3D printing industry. Also sourcing meetings will be held during the three-day exhibition, to Buyers make their schedules more productive and efficient.
