Patent Wars Might Break out in Russia

Business-Inform, a Russian information agency, announced it has finished a series of research for the laser printing market and analyzed OEMs patents registered in Russia.

According to the research, Canon is the main patent holder in the Russian laser printing market in 2013-2014. All of Canon’s patents registered in the country are related to not only its own laser cartridges, but also those of HP. Business-Inform said that HP is the leader in the Russian laser printing market.  Canon’s patents in Russia include: RU 2519854, RU 2519783, RU 2519516, RU 2518356, RU 2518339, RU 2518220, RU 2518169, RU 2518135, RU 2510068.

Business-Inform opined the patent registration can be expected as an important move showing OEMs are determined to fight for their IP rights in Russia. Also, both Canon and HP now have legal rights to fight against those companies who infringe their patents in the country.
