Office Depot de Mexico Acquires Chile’s Largest Office Supplier

Office Depot de Mexico had signed a contract to buy 51% of 6 subsidiaries of Grupo Prisa, the largest office supplies wholesale distributor in Chile, according to Fitch Ratings.

As was revealed, the acquired subsidiaries include Proveedores Integrales Prisa S.A., Surti Ventas S.A., Prisa Logistica S.A., Proveedores Integrales del Sur S.A., Distribuidora Prisa Store S.A. and Proveedores Integrales del Norte, S.A., which together make up Grupo Prisa. Also, the deal is expected to close before the end of the second quarter of 2015, pending due diligence and authorizations.

Fitch Ratings, a global leader in credit ratings and research, considers Office Depot de Mexico’s creditworthiness will not be affected by the Chilean acquisition. It said the transaction will be positive for Office Depot’s business profile, but neutral for its credit quality. Plus, Fitch expects the payment for Prisa to be in cash therefore it will not increase the company’s indebtedness.
