OEM-only Chip Added to Cartridges

In order to confront counterfeiting challenges in Nigeria, two well known document solutions providers have teamed up hoping to bail Nigerian businesses out of the harrowing, interrupted workflow they may have been experiencing due to substandard printing documents.

According to vanguardngr.com, MFI Group and Kyocera Document Solutions have developed a hi-tech solution to stop the sale of fake products, particularly toner cartridges. The two partners developed a special built-in chip for printer cartridges, which the duo claim will not allow any Aftermarket products to work, except those produced by the OEM.

Despite consistent campaigns run by SON, the local standards organisation, the counterfeit menace still eats deep into the fabrics of the Nigerian business world.
