New Kyocera Color Laser Printer Released

Kyocera has rolled out its new desktop color laser printer—the ECOSYS P7040cdn, in North America.

Kyocera Document Solutions America (Kyocera) claims it can print up to 42 pages per minute in both black and color, with a maximum paper capacity of 2,100 sheets. Kyocera have patented their life-long imaging drum that’s separate from the toner container, which the company believes lowers the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), while minimizing environmental impact.

The printer features optional wireless printing, standard USB host interface, and KYOCERA Mobile Print app, as well as support for Mopria, Apple AirPrint, and Google Cloud Print for mobile printing from Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. Other features include:

  • Print on up to legal-size (8.5″ x 14″) media.
  • 1 GHz PowerPC 465S CPU.
  • Standard interfaces consist of: USB 2.0 High Speed x1, Ethernet 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX/1000BASE-T, and USB Host x2.
  • Optional interfaces consist of: Gigabit Ethernet, wireless LAN.
  • Print drivers consist of: Kyocera PRESCRIBE, PCL 6 (PCL-XL, PCL 5c), KPDL3 (Postscript 3-compatible), XPS, and PDF Direct Print Version 1.7.
  • Standard 600-sheet paper capacity (500-sheet cassette plus 100-sheet bypass tray).
  • Compatible with Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  • Black toner container yields up to 16,000 pages, while each cyan, magenta, and yelllow toner container yields up to 12,000 pages. A maintenance kit is good for up to 300,000 pages, and a long-life imaging drum (yield not specified) is also required.

The company is releasing the new printer through its authorized Kyocera dealers.
