Memjet Forms Strategic Partnership with Two Chinese Firms

Maker of page-wide inkjet print heads designed for super-fast inkjet printing speeds Memjet continues to add OEM partnerships. The company reported that it has established OEM partnerships with two Chinese companies, Shanghai UPG International Trading (UP Group) and Liaoning Zheng Hong Basch. In April, Memjet announced a partnership with Canon Inc., and in October, it announced a partnership with Konica Minolta.

These two companies are the first in China to use Memjet’s DuraLink inkjet printing technology to develop high-volume label-printing presses.

Memjet CEO Len Lauer commented: “Five years ago, Memjet envisioned an additional inkjet technology that would bring our trademark quality, speed and affordability to high-volume print markets.

“With our DuraLink technology, we have realized this vision. This new technology combines a long-life print head, durable pigment ink, 2.5-meter maximum print width, and a range of versatile modules. Together, these features give partners a cost-effective way to develop next-generation solutions in labeling, commercial, packaging, and industrial printing markets and beyond.”

Located in Yingkou, Liaoning Zheng Hong Basch Digital Technology (Basch) is engaged in the development, production, and marketing of CTP and digital inkjet printing technology. The company is using DuraLink to develop the Leopard DL-2200 Ink-Jet Printer.

The Leopard DL-220 was designed with key Chinese customers’ inputs. The mono black DuraLink high-speed printing system, combined with the low-cost and environmentally friendly water-based inks, are said to provide a solution that supports the specific needs of the express delivery labels and logistics industry in China.

Using DuraLink means the Leopard DL-2200 Ink-Jet Printer can produce resolutions up to 1600 x 1585 dpi and prints at speeds of up to 203 meters per minute (668 feet per minute). According to Memjet, the Leopard DL-2200’s fast print speeds mean that printers can produce jobs faster and more efficiently, all from one location, creating greater profit potential for the printer..

Located in Shanghai, UP Group has developed the first DuraLink color label press in China, the DuMax/DiMax250 Digital Label Printer.

UP Group was founded in 2001 and has since become a leader in manufacturing and supplying printing, packaging, plastic, food processing, converting machinery, and related consumables in China. Although its primary business is focused on China, it also exports to more than 80 countries.

The DuMax/DiMax250 Digital Label printer is an affordable and flexible solution that has a printing width of 222.8 mm and can print at speeds up to 203 meters per minute. The printer’s resolution is up to 1600 x 1585 dpi, making it the ideal labeling solution for the field of fast-moving consumer goods that require high-quality printing and accurate flesh tones.

The DuMax/DiMax250 Digital Label Printer uses environmentally friendly aqueous pigment ink. This ink has no volatile organic solvents, and is said to be safer for people and the environment. Because the ink-cleaning process is fully automated, it’s easier and more cost-effective to use than other UV cured inks.

Memjet general manager Eric Owen commented: “The feedback from these OEMs indicates that DuraLink addresses a need in the marketplace that has not been met.

“OEMs who serve the high-volume label, packaging and commercial print markets now have the technology they need to create a new breed of printing solutions designed specifically for the markets they serve.
