Largest Aftermarket Ink Supplier Predict Inkjet Will Win

OCP Inks, the largest manufacturer and distributor of aftermarket inks in the world, has used August 12 to predict the outcome of the battle between inkjet and laser in the office.

The company’s Managing Dorector Horst Edelmeier and his business partner Dr Siegfried Koch started OCP inks in Germany 20 years ago, on August 12.

Currently,  OCP Inks’ largest market is in the USA, but it has 28 distribution partners around the world.

According to Edelmeier,  the issue of fine dust concentrations in office environments, together with the newer, faster inkjet printers will determine the final outcome.

When they started OCP 20 years ago this week, many businesses were still using typewriters and dot matrix printers, but Dr Koch convinced Edelmeier, typewriting would be replaced by inkjet.

In an interview, Horst Edelmeier told Recycling Times, “Nobody knew at that time that the replacement of typewriters by inkjet would have gone so quickly. So it’s a good piece of luck in my life to meet Siegfried, my partner, in 1994 when we formed OCP.  So hopefully it will last for some years more. ”
