Kao to Acquire Two Giant Ink Suppliers

Kao, a well established, popular brand for daily consumer goods in Japan, plans to acquire two giant ink suppliers for 10 billion yen (US$98.1 million).

The first supplier is Collins Inkjet Corporation based in Ohio, America, with the main business of developing and manufacturing inkjet inks. The other is the Barcelona-based Chimigraf which specializes in the production of ink for package printing.

All going well, Kao expects to acquire these two companies, in July 2016 and April 2017 respectively.

Kao stepped into the printing ink segment in March this year. With the acquisitions, it is looking to increase its European and American market shares for the package printing of food and daily consumer goods, and tap the sales goal of 30 billion yen in this field by 2025.
