Ink Sales Boom in Africa

The sale of Epson branded ink tank system printers has registered continuous revenue growth in East Africa.
In the first quarter of 2016, Epson East Africa’s revenue increased 50% compared to the same time last year. According to hivisasa.com, Epson’s Kenyan operations reported the highest sales growth of 85% in the fourth quarter of 2015, comparing to the fourth quarter of 2013.
Epson established its East African operations in 2011, and is focused on providing businesses with cost-effective printing solutions. The OEM claims its ink tank systems printers suit the needs of home-users and businesses of all sizes.
According to Epson, the growth of ink tank systems in Kenya, Ethiopia and Tanzania is mainly due to the industry shift from laser to business inkjet printing.
Epson announced in June that the global cumulative sales of its Ink Tank Systems printers had reached 15 million units.
