IDC Says Western European, Large-Format Printer Markets Contracted in 2Q2013
International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Tracker showed that shipments to the Western European, large-format printer market slipped 14.6% year-on-year (YOY) to nearly 15,500 units in the second quarter of 2013 (2Q13) compared to 2Q12. IDC noted most Western European large-format printer markets decreased, except in a few countries in Scandinavia.
HP, Canon and Epson led the Western European large-format printer market in 2Q13 with 83.7% of total shipments.
Julio Vial, Research Manager, Western European Quarterly Large-Format Printer Tracker, said, “Shipments of UV-curable, inkjet printers are still increasing and IDC expects this trend to continue in Western Europe.”
Despite a 4.4% YOY decrease in 2Q13, the Technical sector took more than a 65% share of the application type and remains the largest market in Western Europe. The Graphics segment dropped nearly 30% in 2Q13 YOY.
