HP Rolls out New “Instant Ink Professional”
Hewlett-Packard has released an ink cartridge subscription program called Instant Ink Professional that provides for the automatic delivery of ink jet ink to replenish printers. Under the program, for a monthly fee, users can have ink cartridges automatically delivered whenever ink levels become low. This service applies only to eligible and Internet-connected HP printers and All-in-Ones.
Covered printers alert HP via the Cloud when ink is low and before it runs out. Users can print up to 2,000 pages per month for $59.99 per month. The new program follows HP’s Instant Ink Program introduced in 2011, for lower-volume color inkjet printers and All-in-Ones.
According to HP, three Instant Ink Professional subscription options are available:
- $19.99 per month – Print up to 400 pages per month. Each additional set of 40 pages is $2. Roll-over up to 400 un-used pages;
- $39.99 per month – Print up to 1,000 pages per month. Each additional set of 50 pages is $2. Roll-over up to 1,000 un-used pages;
- $59.99 per month – Print up to 2,000 pages per month. Each additional set of 60 pages is $2. Roll-over up to 2,000 un-used pages.
Cost per page for each plan is as follows:
- 400 pages at $19.99 equals 4.99 cents;
- 1,000 pages at $39.99 equals 3.99 cents;
- 2,000 pages at $59.99 equals 2.99 cents.
HP noted that Instant Ink Professional is only available in the United States now, with plans to extend it to other countries in the future.
