HP Rolls Out First Mopria-based Printer

HP released the industry’s first Mopria certified printer, the Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476, for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The Mopria Alliance (Mobile printing alliance) is a non-profit membership organization of leading global technology companies with the shared goal of providing intuitively simple wireless printing from smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

As introduced by HP, the new product supports embedded print for Android-based devices, and meets Mopria global certification standards for delivering simple wireless printing from smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. The MFP (multifunction printer) also offers access to cloud business applications, such as HP’s Flow CM Professional, Box and Google Drive. Moreover, the new machine can print through near-field communications (NFC), has touch-to-print capabilities, and offers wireless direct printing, HP ePrint and HP AirPrint.

HP noted that the new product will be available worldwide on April 1, 2014, at price between $529 and $679.

“The expectation of today’s business customer is to print securely from any location or device,” said George Brasher, HP’s Vice President and General Manager, Worldwide Laser Printer Business, adding “HP remains committed to delivering simple, secured mobile print solutions aimed to help customers solve the mobility challenge of working while in the office or on the go. With the addition of these new enterprise-grade mobility offerings, HP is helping SMBs increase productivity and workflow solutions, allowing them to be more productive in their businesses.”
