HP Activates New Supplies Distribution Policy

HP changed its distribution policy for printer supplies as of November 1. The company now categorizes the following original HP ink and toner cartridges as “Authorized Products”.

Original HP Inkjet print cartridges (HP Product line 1N)
Original HP LaserJet print cartridges (HP Product line 5T)
Original HP large format ink (HP Product line UK)
Only HP Authorized Partners are allowed to purchase the above listed products from HP distributors and can only sell to end-user customers.

Steve Sakumoto, Vice President and General Manager of HP’s U.S. Supplies Sales Organization, said, “What we are trying to do is to create a direct relationship with the reseller base so that HP can support them and enable them to provide superior solutions to the end user customers. We feel that having a direct relationship with the reseller base, we can understand what our resellers’ needs are, we can identify the differentiated groups our resellers want to provide services, so we can support them in a more focused demeanor, and then they can provide more superior experiences to end users”.
