Dongle Gear Case Granted Ex Parte Preliminary Injunction

The District Court of Düsseldorf in Germany has granted an ex parte order for a preliminary injunction against Consumable Direct Ltd. dealing under “Color Direct.”

According to Canon, Consumable Direct has allegedly infringed the German portion of Canon’s European patent 2087407 (407) by offering and selling certain toner cartridges for use in various models of Canon and HP laser beam printers.

The OEM claims it is seeking preliminary injunctive relief and rendering of commercial information.

The 407 patent is relating to a drum unit and a process cartridge.

In February 2016, Inkjet Direct, Badger Office Supplies and Greentrees International, the three companies accused of infringing the patent in the UK, have signed a confidential Settlement Agreement with Canon.
